Spouses of Consuls General in Guangzhou and International Guests Gather for an Immersive Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience

When the inky elegance of Chaozhou’s blue-and-white porcelain heritage met the enthusiasm of diplomatic spouses and international guests, a warm cross-cultural dialogue unfolded at the Chaozhou Blue & White Porcelain Cultural Center.

On January 30, 2026, the “Oriental Aesthetics | Blue-and-White Porcelain Painting” PITO intangible heritage experience welcomed participants from Kazakhstan, Ecuador, Ghana, and other countries. Through hands-on creation, guests immersed themselves in the enduring charm of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, enjoying a rich and rewarding cultural journey.

The distinctive beauty of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain immediately captured everyone’s attention. Guided by professional instructors, participants took up their brushes to sketch and paint on pristine porcelain panels.

From outlining and shading to expressive brushwork, they carefully explored each technique—at times exchanging ideas in quiet conversation, at times fully absorbed in their own creative worlds. What began as blank porcelain gradually came alive with elegant blue-and-white designs: lively florals, poetic landscapes, and imaginative works blending Eastern and Western aesthetics.

Each brushstroke reflected deep respect for traditional craftsmanship, and every finished piece carried a personal cultural interpretation. Amid laughter and shared moments of discovery, guests were truly captivated by this art born of “earth and fire.”

Breaks between creations were equally enjoyable. The mellow warmth of Yongshuangtang’s aged tangerine peel tea, an intangible cultural heritage product, mingled with the rich fruity notes of Wine Bolero wines, adding another sensory dimension to the experience. Guests raised their glasses, shared admiration for blue-and-white porcelain techniques, and exchanged stories of artistic traditions from their own cultures, bringing hearts closer through taste and conversation.

After completing their porcelain panel paintings, guests continued to the PITO Hotel Supplies Exhibition & Trade Center, where traditional blue-and-white craftsmanship was seamlessly integrated into contemporary hotelware design. Ceramic tableware and decorative pieces—balancing refined aesthetics with practical function—were elegantly displayed, vividly illustrating the philosophy of “bringing intangible heritage into everyday life.”

Visitors lingered to admire the exhibits, gently touching the finely crafted surfaces and experiencing PITO’s thoughtful approach to weaving centuries-old porcelain heritage into modern settings. Many guests praised the design and quality, capturing this distinctive Oriental aesthetic through photographs.

The experience concluded with a culinary highlight: authentic Neapolitan pizza, itself recognized as world intangible cultural heritage, paired with rich, aromatic coffee. Wood-fired pizzas, fragrant with wheat and melted cheese, complemented by smooth, full-bodied coffee, provided a satisfying finale to the cultural journey. As guests enjoyed the food, they proudly displayed their porcelain artworks, their sense of accomplishment and joy clearly visible.

Many participants remarked that the event offered not only a rare opportunity to personally experience the magic of Chinese intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, but also a chance to connect with like-minded friends and feel the inclusiveness and warmth of Chaozhou culture. Several expressed their wish to return with family and friends for a deeper cultural experience.

From the artisanal legacy of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain painting, to the sensory pairing of aged tangerine peel tea and fine wine, and finally to the cross-cultural encounter with Neapolitan pizza, the event built a bridge through culture—allowing Oriental aesthetics to engage in meaningful dialogue with global traditions.

PITO remains committed to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. Looking ahead, PITO will continue to present diverse and inspiring heritage experiences, inviting people around the world to discover and appreciate the enduring beauty of traditional Chinese culture.
