PIB College from Indonesia Visits P&T Royal Ware (PITO) to Experience Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain

Introduction: On September 14, a delegation of teachers and students from Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB College) in Indonesia visited the P&T Royal Ware (PITO) International Exhibition & Trade Center at Gongmei Port, Guangzhou, embarking on a cultural study tour across mountains and seas. The delegation visited P&T Royal Ware (PITO)’s hotel tableware showroom and Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Intangible Cultural Heritage Center, before entering P&T Royal Ware (PITO)’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Art Workshop for a hands-on porcelain plate painting experience. Through porcelain, the visit created a bridge for cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.

At the P&T Royal Ware (PITO) showroom, the delegation explored P&T Royal Ware (PITO)’s full range of hotel tableware products up close and learned about the brand’s more than four decades of family heritage in the ceramic industry. From commercial tableware for five-star hotels to customized cultural and creative gifts, the visit offered an insight into P&T Royal Ware (PITO)’s design capabilities and international development in the modern ceramic tableware industry.

From ceremonial tableware used for state banquets to products exported to international markets, the P&T Royal Ware (PITO) team also introduced the visiting teachers and students to the brand’s long-standing commitment to global markets and its continued trade and cultural engagement with Southeast Asia.

The delegation then visited the Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Intangible Cultural Heritage Center. As an officially recognized inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain firing techniques, the center presents the development of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain from its historical origins in export kilns along the ancient Maritime Silk Road to its contemporary expression.
The teachers and students listened attentively to the introduction of the traditional techniques and admired a collection of blue-and-white porcelain pieces, experiencing the unique Eastern aesthetics created through the application of cobalt pigments and transformation through fire.

The highlight of the visit was the hands-on porcelain plate painting experience. Guided by ceramic art instructors, the PIB teachers and students picked up their brushes and created freely on plain white porcelain plates. Some tried to reproduce traditional blue-and-white patterns, while others incorporated inspiration from Indonesian culture. Stroke by stroke, different cultural aesthetics and creative ideas came together on the porcelain surface.

A porcelain plate and a paintbrush captured a moment of cultural exchange between two countries.

The entire visit was not only an immersive learning experience centered on China’s intangible cultural heritage and ceramic culture, but also a two-way dialogue between civilizations. Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain has been exported to Southeast Asia along the Maritime Silk Road since ancient times, creating a long-standing historical connection with Indonesia.

The visit by PIB College further deepened mutual understanding between the two sides and laid the groundwork for future cooperation between P&T Royal Ware (PITO) and Indonesian educational institutions in study tours, cultural and creative product development, and talent exchange.
Looking ahead, P&T Royal Ware (PITO) will continue to leverage its heritage and industry strengths, using porcelain as a medium to expand cultural exchange between China and the world and to share more stories of Chinese ceramic culture reaching global markets.
