PITO | A Cultural Dialogue on Low-Carbon Living through Cuisine and Porcelain

When cuisine meets ceramics, and tradition enters into dialogue with the contemporary, an intimate gathering centered on green living quietly unfolds.

On January 22, 2026, the cultural salon “Low-Carbon Living Through Delicious Food,” co-initiated by documentary filmmaker and writer Ms. Li Lingling and Zhen Wenda ASEAN Culinary R&D Center, was held at the Chaozhou Greater Bay Area Urban Reception Center.

The event welcomed consuls’ spouses and international guests from Kazakhstan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Spain, South Korea, Georgia, and beyond. Amid Ms. Li Lingling’s reflections on food culture and sustainable living, and the gentle, luminous presence of PITO porcelain, guests shared a warm and memorable moment where Eastern and Western wisdom converged.

As a ceramic brand deeply committed to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and cultural innovation, PITO has long dedicated itself to integrating millennia-old porcelain craftsmanship into contemporary lifestyles. This collaboration with Ms. Li Lingling was rooted in a shared belief that everyday objects carry aesthetic meaning, and that a green, low-carbon way of life begins at the table.

In her newly released book Low-Carbon Living: Green Cuisine at Your Fingertips, Ms. Li explores the cultural intelligence and environmental philosophy behind food. Her years of in-depth interviews with leaders across diverse fields further enriched the salon with depth and cross-cultural perspective.

During the event, PITO presented a refined culinary experience aligned with the low-carbon theme through an array of exquisite ceramic tableware. From the silky warmth of the Cantonese dessert ginger milk, to the crisp aroma of the classic sweet and sour shrimp, and finally to the pure, understated elegance of steamed fish, each dish was thoughtfully served on PITO’s distinctive porcelain.

The gentle texture of porcelain highlighted the natural essence of the cuisine, while its durability and reusability quietly embodied a sustainable approach to living.

Throughout the gathering, consuls’ spouses from various countries held elegant cups and plates, experiencing firsthand the subtle warmth and restraint often described as “warming at the touch” in Chinese ceramics. No longer merely vessels, the porcelain pieces became a cultural medium—transcending language and fostering resonance—silently conveying the Eastern philosophy of respect for nature and mindful use of objects.

This salon, jointly curated by PITO and Ms. Li Lingling, was more than an encounter between gastronomy and ceramics; it was a profound dialogue on lifestyle aesthetics.

PITO believes that true heritage lies in allowing ancient craftsmanship to thrive in contemporary life—woven into everyday moments and attentive to the present. Looking ahead, PITO will continue to use porcelain as a cultural bridge, collaborating with like-minded cultural advocates such as Ms. Li Lingling to create more diverse platforms for exchange, and to let ceramic art infused with Eastern wisdom continue to enrich visions of a better life around the world.
