Tradition Meets Design, Inspiring a Global Audience | Uruguayan Consul General Visits PITO and Applauds the “Beauty of Fusion”

Recently, the Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, accompanied by his delegation, visited the headquarters of Guangdong PITO Technology Co., Ltd. Guided by the PITO team, he toured the Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and the company’s product showroom. He expressed strong appreciation for PITO’s achievements in cultural innovation, brand development, and ceramic craftsmanship. This cross-cultural exchange marked a meaningful and memorable moment in PITO’s global journey.

Creativity Behind the “Greater Bay Chicken”

Dolphin-Inspired Design Earns High Praise

In the cultural gift section, a commemorative piece known as the “Greater Bay Chicken,” created for the National Games, drew particular attention from the Consul General, who paused to examine it closely.

PITO staff explained that the design is inspired by the mascots of the 15th National Games, “Xiyangyang” and “Lerongrong,” which are modeled after the Chinese white dolphin, a nationally protected species. These lively dolphins are affectionately nicknamed the “Greater Bay Chicken.”

After studying the piece in detail, the Consul General remarked:

“Your design beautifully blends traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics.”

His comment reflects PITO’s commitment to integrating intangible cultural heritage techniques with modern design.

During the visit, Mr. Xu Hongsheng provided an overview of the company. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Guangzhou, with manufacturing facilities in Chaozhou, widely known as China’s “Porcelain Capital,” PITO integrates research and development, design, production, and sales. The company specializes in high-end ceramics for the hospitality industry and delivers comprehensive tableware solutions.

Its portfolio includes bone china, high bone china, fine porcelain, high-temperature porcelain, and colored-glaze ceramics, serving applications ranging from hospitality and banquet dining to customized gifting. With a production area of approximately 40,000 square meters, PITO’s products meet international standards, including FDA and LFGB certifications.

Guided by the philosophy “Create Happy Memories at Your Table,” PITO has long supplied tableware for state banquets and major projects, with exports spanning Europe, North America, the Middle East, and other regions.

During the showroom tour, the Consul General also took a particular interest in PITO’s three appearances at the World Expo, pausing to review the display panels. This reflected his genuine curiosity about and respect for ceramic culture.

A Pleasant Discovery at the Brand Wall

“I Recognize Many of These Names”

At the brand partnership wall on the first floor, the Consul General paused and smiled, noting with some surprise:

“In many brand displays I’ve seen, I hardly recognize any of the names. Here, I recognize quite a few.”

This simple observation underscores PITO’s growing presence in the global high-end ceramics market.

Today, PITO exports to 32 countries and regions and has contributed to more than 150 major projects worldwide, with its international brand influence continuing to expand.

Experiencing Intangible Heritage Firsthand

Painting Blue-and-White Porcelain

At the Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Heritage Museum, the Consul General participated in a hands-on cultural experience. Under the guidance of a master artisan, he picked up a brush, dipped it into cobalt pigment, and began painting on a porcelain plate.

What began as tentative strokes gradually became more confident as he focused on completing his own blue-and-white porcelain piece. Reflecting on the experience, he said:

“It looks simple, but once you try it, you realize it takes years of practice. This craft deserves global recognition.”

Through this process, he gained a firsthand appreciation for the distinctive technique of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain, known for its single high-temperature firing under a white glaze.

Chinese Tableware Strikes a Chord

Consul General Shares His Appreciation for Chinese Cuisine

In the gift section on the second floor, an elegant set of Chinese-style home tableware caught the Consul General’s attention. He gently picked up a piece to examine its craftsmanship.

During the conversation, he remarked with a smile:

“I enjoy Chinese cuisine, though it’s difficult to prepare myself, so I often dine at Chinese restaurants.”

In discussion with Chairman Xu Hongsheng, he also spoke enthusiastically about Chinese tea culture. He compared Beijing’s bold, large-pot tea with the refined Gongfu tea tradition of Chaozhou, where tea is served in small cups, each offering a distinct sensory experience. His thoughtful observations resonated with those present.

Connecting Through Porcelain, Shaping the Future

During the subsequent meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on ceramic design innovation, international market expansion, and cultural integration.

The Consul General expressed admiration for PITO’s ability to harmonize traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics and conveyed his interest in exploring future collaboration.

Mr. Xu Hongsheng responded that PITO will continue to uphold its philosophy of creating tableware that enhances the dining experience, combining cultural heritage with a global outlook to bring Chinese ceramics to an even broader international audience.

From the banks of the Han River to the shores of Latin America, a single porcelain cup carries both craftsmanship and friendship. The visit of the Uruguayan Consul General has opened new opportunities for PITO in the South American market while showcasing the confidence and vitality of Chinese ceramic brands on the world stage.
